On December 12, The Unique Club will host an exclusive presentation of Costis’ latest collection, a moment that brings his innovative approach to high jewelry into the spotlight. Ahead of the showcase, we asked a few questions to Konstantinos Chamamtzis, known simply as Costis, to explore the inspirations, challenges, and meticulous craftsmanship behind his work.

Konstantinos Chamamtzis, Founder of Costis

What inspired this latest collection and the vision behind it?
The Snail Shell collection draws its inspiration from the natural elegance and comfort of the snail’s own shell. In developing these pieces, I chose to remove the inner part of the shell, reimagining its organic form as a ring or bracelet. This transformation allows each creation to rest on the finger or wrist with the same ease and comfort as a snail inhabits its shell. My design philosophy centers on making the jewellery feel like a natural extension of the body, ensuring that the wearer experiences the same sense of belonging and harmony that defines the snail’s relationship with its home.

How do these pieces distinguish themselves from other high jewellery creations on the market?
My collections stand out because of their unique blend of artistry, architectural influence, refined design, and precise mechanical elements. Each creation is the result of meticulous planning, and no aspect is left to chance. I study every detail carefully to ensure harmony and elegance. Despite the intricate nature of these pieces, they are remarkably comfortable to wear. The thoughtful engineering allows each item to seamlessly integrate with the wearer, becoming a natural extension rather than merely an accessory.

Your “Beehive” and “Wave” pieces are engineering marvels. Which creation has challenged you the most to bring to life?
Both the “Beehive” and “Wave” collections required extensive study and continuous experimentation to bring them to life. The “Wave” piece, in particular, presented exceptional challenges. Its uniqueness meant that the creative process extended over a longer period, starting with the pursuit of truly one-of-a-kind stones. Every step—from sourcing these rare gems to conceptualizing the design—demanded my full attention and dedication. Translating the initial vision into reality was especially complex. The ring’s structure posed significant difficulties, as gemstones are set both on the exterior and inside the interior of its sculptural shape. This innovative approach to stone setting introduced an extra layer of intricacy, testing the limits of craftsmanship and precision. Its size and bold presence added further complexity, making it a challenge to achieve both visual balance and comfort for the wearer. Ensuring that the ring sits harmoniously on the finger required careful engineering and adjustments throughout the creation process, which lasted three and a half months.

Who do you imagine wearing these designs, and what kind of connection do you hope they’ll feel with them?
When I create my jewelry, I envision bold and sophisticated women as the wearers of these pieces. These are women who choose not to blend in or simply follow trends—they prefer to stand out and express their individuality through what they wear. I design for those who value the originality of high jewelry, seeking pieces that are adapted to the spirit of modern times and possess a lasting authenticity that transcends fleeting fashions. I hope that, by wearing my creations, these women are able to perceive nature, the world around us, and the everyday objects that inspire me in the same way that I do. Through this shared perspective, I believe we form a unique connection, recognizing and appreciating the same qualities and beauty in these sources of inspiration.

Your clientele spans Europe, the Middle East, and the US. How do cultural tastes influence your designs?
It is true that women from different parts of the world have distinct preferences and aesthetic sensibilities. Certain collections may naturally resonate more with specific markets than with others, reflecting these differences. Yet over the years, I have seen a remarkable worldwide appeal for my collections. This universal resonance comes from the sources of my inspiration—nature, the sea, and the world around us—which are elements familiar and meaningful to everyone, no matter their background. These shared inspirations allow my jewelry to connect with individuals across continents and cultures.

Looking at your body of work, is there a piece that you feel embodies your essence as a designer?
Among all my creations, I consider the “Snail Shell” collection the signature embodiment of my identity as a designer. It represents the pinnacle of high-end jewelry artistry, skillfully uniting a clear conceptual vision with the practical elements required for exceptional craftsmanship. The pieces are carefully constructed with a keen sense of architectural integrity, ensuring the correct volume and weight for each design. This balance delivers not only visual impact but also sculptural grace. The intricate engraving and sculptural details show the attention I give to every element, while the unprecedented comfort ensures that each piece is as wearable as it is striking. The “Snail Shell” collection has evolved naturally, each new piece growing seamlessly from the core concept, reinforcing the collection’s unity. This organic growth highlights the allure of carefully handpicked gemstones, each chosen to enhance the collection’s unique character and beauty.

What drew you to Dubai for your next step, and how do you envision The Unique Gallery helping you connect with a new audience?
Dubai has always been on my mind because I have a large clientele there that spans generations. I wanted to expand, and Dubai is a practical choice since it is nearby and allows me to monitor the store directly. Working with The Unique Gallery is an exciting opportunity because I trust them; we have collaborated before in Monaco.

They bring together collections and curations of international jewelers, and this partnership allows us to grow together while entering new markets. The gallery provides a structured platform that connects me with a diverse audience, helping my work reach new communities while strengthening relationships with those who already know and appreciate my designs.

What direction do you hope to take in 2026, both creatively and as a brand?
In 2026, I plan to take the brand in two main directions: expansion into new markets and the introduction of innovative products. Expanding into new markets will allow Costis Fine Jewelry to connect with new audiences and strengthen our presence globally. On the creative side, I want to explore more experimental designs that go beyond traditional earrings and necklaces, creating pieces that feel cooler and more daring. Additionally, we will launch the Kratistos Watch, a timepiece that draws upon my experience in fine jewelry and marks our entry into watchmaking, bridging heritage with a new form of craftsmanship. My aim is to grow the brand internationally while maintaining the authenticity and vision that have always defined Costis.
